The croft

The Croft Farm Collective is a small farm in Tennessee, inspired by the tradition of Scottish crofting—where small farms, known as crofts, are rooted in care for the land, community, and honest food. While our soil and seasons are shaped by the American South, our name reflects a deep respect for the crofting philosophy: farming small, farming thoughtfully, and farming with purpose.

In Scotland, crofts have long represented resilience and stewardship—families working closely with the land, often in challenging conditions, to provide food and livelihood while protecting what they depend on. At The Croft, we carry that spirit forward, adapting it to our Tennessee landscape and climate.

Regenerative Farming

Permaculture & Ecosystem

Regenerative Farming

Beneath our feet is a living ecosystem of microbes that feed plants, store carbon, and hold water. Regenerative farming works by rebuilding this underground community.

Instead of tearing up the soil or relying on chemicals, regenerative farmers keep living roots in the ground, add organic matter, and let microbes do the work. Plants feed the soil, the soil feeds the plants, and the land gets healthier every season.

Regenerative farming grows better food, builds resilience, and helps heal the planet—starting from the soil up.”

Organic Practices

Permaculture & Ecosystem

Regenerative Farming

We are committed to organic agriculture as a foundation for healthy land and healthy people. Our farms operate without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms, focusing instead on natural processes and soil vitality. Organic practices, combined with permaculture-informed systems, allow us to grow food in harmony with natural cycles—prioritizing transparency, sustainability, and integrity from seed to harvest.

Permaculture & Ecosystem

Permaculture guides how we design our farms as whole, interconnected systems. Rather than treating crops, soil, water, and wildlife separately, we observe how they interact and support one another. By integrating diverse plant species, supporting pollinators, and mimicking natural ecosystems, we build landscapes that are productive, regenerative, and resilient. This approach strengthens ecosystem health while producing food that is both abundant and responsibly grown.
